Please check your scans for update requirements

I’m one of the two people working on Campnab. I like to run, ski, bike, and camp with my family and friends. (I love saunas.)

Find me:

Last week, I wrote about how changes to booking systems can affect your Campnab alerts. Booking platforms are often in flux and sometimes change in ways that impact how your scans work.

We regularly release system updates to keep scans functioning properly. Most of the time, when we push out an update to address one of these issues, you won’t even notice. The fix happens behind the scenes, and your scan keeps running as it should.

However, some changes require you to review your scan settings, make adjustments, and save the new configuration. For example, if your scan is set to alert you about specific site numbers—and those site numbers have changed—you’ll need to update that scan manually. This isn’t common, but it does happen from time to time.

Because of this, we recommend signing in to Campnab occasionally to check your active scans. If one of your scans needs attention, it will be highlighted, and you’ll see a button prompting you to review it.

We’re currently working on a backend tool that will automatically email you whenever a scan requires manual review or updates. Once that’s in place, you won’t need to log in just to check for issues like this.

In the meantime, I’ll be sending individual emails to members whose scans might be affected by booking system changes. That process is a bit slower than an automated one, so there may be a short window in which your scan isn’t running as it should.

These manual update requirements are very rare. We typically see them once or twice a year, affecting only a small number of scans. Still, I figured this information was worth sharing—so you know what’s happening here and that we’re actively updating to accommodate booking system changes.
