How booking system changes can affect your alerts

Campnab monitors a bunch of different campground booking systems. These systems are built by various providers. Some groups use different versions or configurations of these platforms. This means things are constantly shifting behind the scenes. Sometimes, those changes affect how scans behave.

Recently, a longtime member told us she wasn’t getting alerts like she used to. When I ran a basic scan, it produced alerts exactly like it was supposed to. But, when I matched her exact settings (set to monitor only a few specific sites) nothing came through, even though sites were available.

After digging deeper, we discovered that the booking system for that park had quietly changed how it organizes individual sites. Scans for the entire campground still worked. But if you filtered for specific sites, those scans didn’t pick up the available spots. We’ve since updated our scanner to adapt to this new setup.

These kinds of issues can be hard to catch. They’re sometimes limited to a specific region, or they might only pop up under certain conditions. And because booking systems are always evolving, we don’t always know when something breaks—until someone lets us know.

Some fixes are quick. Others are more involved and take longer—especially when we’re working through a few at once. Either way, we’re on it. We want Campnab to work reliably for you and everyone else counting on it.
