How BC Parks’ booking system change affects your scans

I’m one of the two people working on Campnab. I like to run, ski, bike, and camp with my family and friends. (I love saunas.)

As you might already know, BC Parks is transitioning to a new booking system. This new system will go live on March 21st, at 7:00 am. Your existing Discover Camping account will not work with their new system. However, you can register a new account with BC Parks on March 14th.
To accommodate the transition, BC Parks is not accepting new bookings between March 1st and March 20th. If you have an existing camping reservation for any date up to March 31st, it will be honoured. (It won’t be linked to your new user account, though.)
As BC Parks isn’t currently taking online bookings, scans for openings at B.C’s provincial park won’t yield results. So, if you want to scan for a campsite availability at a provincial park, please hold off for now. It’s better to wait until their new system is online to do this.
We’ve worked through a few of these transitions in the past. Each time it’s a bit of work to sync up our scanning with the new booking system. Typically, we’re back online and able to scan within a day or two. This integration might take time depending on how BC Parks unrolls its new system and its approach to backcountry permits.
That said, we’re eager to see the new site and integrate Campnab with it! We love helping you find new campsite availabilities. Plus, I need to find a few days at Lightning Lake for my in-laws’ July visit. So, I’ll be scanning for some spots too!
