Camper reviews for Rabbit Blanket Campground at Lake Superior
Our favorite Ontario park
After a month of exploring Ontario, we ended our journey in Lake Superior Provincial Park. For a third time on our Canadian Road Trip, Campnab helped us secure a camp site at a very popular park...this time at Rabbit Blanket Campground. We were eager to get a campsite directly on the lake, and were not disappointed when Campnab advised us to quickly take action on one of the few lakeside camp spots that had opened up.
We kayaked and fished a number of the lakes and waterways within in this huge park. Mijinemungshing Lake has an access road just south of the Ontario Parks Office, well worth the bumpy dirt road drive to visit this lake...you can even remote camp via canoe to one of its many islands!
Upon first entering the park from it's southern entrance, we stopped at the informative visitor's center. From here we drove to the Agawa Rock Pictographs, and began a short but slippery hike to these beautiful ancient pictographs. Not far from here, we drove and then hiked Sand River Falls, with flowing water and numerous picnic tables, a great place to cool off and have lunch. Also, there are a number of scenic pull outs that you must stop for as you drive through the park.
If you need additional provisions and you are near the north end of the park (where Rabbit Blanket Campground is located) check out the small town of WaWa (you can't miss the entrance, there is the huge WaWa Goose !
