Chain O Lakes State Park Camping

I want to like this park, it is the closest state park to my home, unfortunately change n o lakes state park has lost its luster. They run a DOC camp inside the park and use the inmate labor, yet the shower houses are not as well kept or up to date as many other state parks. The sights are hit and miss, many are not leveled, having large washouts where the sights meet the road, the parking pads are in desperate need of more stone, most of the fire rings are rusted away to the point of causing the cooking grates to be unusable and menu of the sights hold water. Lastly The beach is always weedy! On a positive note, they host one of the best Halloween events of any state park I’ve seen. I want to like this park but there are better parks available.
