Camper reviews for Gilbert Lake State Park

Beautiful State Park, Could Be Better for Tents

We recently stayed at Gilbert Lake over the long weekend and stayed in the tent loop with another family. Overall the park was very clean and well laid out, and the check-in team was polite and informative. The lake and pavilion were beautiful, and the paths around the park were well-kept.

I'm only giving the park 4 stars since it caters more to the trailer and camper crowd than the tent crowd. The bathrooms in the tent area assumed low usage, but a single stall needs to be improved. Also, you will deal with campers off the grid which means portable generators running until the ranger comes by and shuts them down. Also, there is little privacy and trees, which is great for campers, but not the best for tents.

There is also a large group of cabins, which looked amazing from the outside, but I cannot comment on the inside.
