Camper reviews for Watchman Campground at Zion National Park
AMAZING
Right by the visitor center and can easily walk to shops outside the park! plenty of space and hookups. Beautiful sunrise and sunset spots
Zion as busy as Disneyland!
While I appreciate people getting out and exploring the National Parks, Zion was just too crowded. Especially considering the heat. This is my main reason for not a 5 star review, its far less enjoyable when its so crowded.
We arrived late afternoon and there was still quite a long line to enter the park. After we entered we drove the short distance to the Watchman Campground, the line for the shuttle we passed looked like a line for a Disneyland ride. This made us very nervous for the day of hiking we planned ahead.
The Watchman Campground is nice, several different loops so it doesn't feel as big as it is. We had a nice spot with a view of the Watchman. We attempted a hike after setting up but it was just too hot. We ended up floating in the Virgin River, like everyone else. Once we had dinner and the sunset, we tried the hike again. It was great to be close to the Watchman trailhead so we could do a night hike without having to get in the car.
The next day we had Angel's Landing and the Narrows on the agenda. Even though we were only about 500 ft from the main parking lot, we barely got a spot at 7am. The shuttle line was already getting long, but since we were willing to stand and were only 2 people we got to skip ahead. We were lucky enough to get an Angel's Landing permit for before 9am. That was an incredible experience. Even just the hike to Scouts and back down would be worth it.
Next we took the shuttle to the Narrows. The Narrows was of course vey crowded. It is incredibly popular and cool due to the river and the shade from the cliffs. We probably hiked about a mile and a half up the Narrows before turning around. Apparently you can rent gear; wooden pole, water shoes, etc, but we just used our own stuff. I would definitely look into getting the wooden walking stick as my trekking poles kept being pushed over by the current.
We took the shuttle back to the main lot, we did a little shopping in the gift store. This place was slammed and we almost walked out but kept our patience and bought our souvenirs. Then we left Zion via the East Entrance. This drive was amazing. I highly recommend it!
Overall we loved Zion, unfortunately so does everyone else and the crowds take away from some of the enjoyment for us.
Great Home Base
I love to stay at this campground. It is a great home base with easy walking access to shuttles and across the bridge to town. There is not a ton of privacy but the views and location are totally worth it. No showers but nice bathrooms.
Found the perfect spot on Campnab. No way could we have secured the spot without their help.
We planned a last minute trip to southern Utah using Campnab. Zion, Bryce and Arches all at nearby sites I had wanted to secure. Great trip and perfect sites.
Zion
Got into Zion watchman camping ground when it was impossible to keep an open site , but Campnab got us in with many opitions for campsite. Will continue to use this great app.
Watchman Campground Review
Had an amazing stay here in April of 2022 thanks in large part to Campnab! Campground was totally booked but we were able to secure a spot through the website and it was amazing! We had a location that backed up to The Watchman that felt totally private due to its orientation. As a bonus we watched the Milky Way come up each night over the rock formations.
We were lucky and got passes to do Angels Landing (a must do) and hiked up The Narrows which was absolutely incredible! The outfitters for The Narrows are walking distance from the Campground and super convenient. I highly recommend both of these excursions (see pics below).
Dinning and grocery’s are a short walk or drive from camp as well. I cannot recommend this campground enough!
Best Campground
Best Campground in and around Zion NP. Great sites along the Virgin River and close to Visitor Center and shuttle.
Lucky!
Managed to score 3 adjacent sites for a Girl Scout camping trip. Pretty tightly packed, but just enough room for tents. Very clean facilities for non-rough campers. Within walking distance of the major park stores in case you forgot anything or need some morning coffee. Some of the best night photography that you can find.
Great Campground!
Spacious sites, some tree cover, close to the river, the visitors center/shuttle, and some hikes. Would stay again!
Excellent service
Wish that there is an app available on iPhone or Android.
Exceeded Expectations!
I was worried I wouldn't get my camp sites at Arches and Zion for the two weeks I was traveling. I tried on my own and failed. I gave Campnab a go and they notified me as soon as someone else canceled and the days I was looking for became available. Totally worth it! The expense of Campnab was less than one night at RV Park I wasn't thrilled about to begin with. Will use this service for all my future camping excursions! Thanks Eric and Eric!
Incredible Spot
Beautiful location between the mountains. Sites are pretty close together and there are real bathrooms.
Unplug at Zion
Watchman Campground and Zion National Park are out of this world.
A short drive off a main highway, this park is incredibly scenic and offers numerous activities including:
Climbing
Hiking
Biking
Interpretive Centre
Swimming
Wildlife viewing
The quaint town Springdale, a short walk away, includes rental shops, bakeries, grocery stores, restaurants and even a brewery.
Take some time to disconnect and go to Zion.
