I’m one of the two people working on Campnab. I like to run, ski, bike, and camp with my family and friends. (I love saunas.)

Find me:

Almost every day, I’m asked how to get around camping bots. I’ve gone looking for them, and I’ve found some scripts on Github that mimic what Campnab does. That said, I have yet to find a bot that will book your campsite for you on opening morning.

In spite of this, I’m still inundated with questions about bots. Meanwhile, these stories are commonly found on the news. So, I put together this video. In it, I talk about the reasons camping bots probably aren’t a concern. I also look at why it’s so hard to book a campsite these days. I even present some ideas on how we can help fix the problem.

If you’re looking for a thrilling story, or something to get mad about, this isn’t it. In fact, the story is pretty straight-forward: A lot of people want to camp, and that volume (alongside certain policies) is more likely at the heart of this issue.
