I’m one of the two people working on Campnab. I like to run, ski, bike, and camp with my family and friends. (I love saunas.)

Those who love being in the backcountry know how competitive permit booking is. A few reached out to us, asking if Campnab could alert them of permit availabilities. For some time, the answer was mostly “no”.
Sure, we can scan for backcountry permits in Alberta Parks and Canada’s National Parks. That said, booking systems typically treat permits differently from standard campsites. As such, scanning for backcountry permits requires its own approach.
That’s why we’re so excited to add scanning of permits for many parks in the United States. As of today, we can scan more than 650 permits and tickets (tours, passes, permits, day use, backcountry, etc.) at parks booked through Recreation.gov.
I should note that even within this one booking system, permits are handled in many different ways. As such, we haven’t yet added scanning for every permit. This is a big step for us, though, and we’ll add more in the coming months.
As with any new addition, we anticipate minor bugs. Should you experience issues with scanning for permits (or have any questions) please reach out to us. We’ll iron out the kinks.
